        About the Evade 4.3 Hooded Chest Zip Winter Wetsuit

        The Evade 4.3 hooded winter wetsuit from Isurus. A wetsuit with 5 mm warmth in a 4 mm wetsuit.

        Born at Mavericks, tested and true in some of the harshest conditions. The Evade series will keep you warmer and performing longer in cool to cold water conditions.

        A compression wetsuit, now with a strategic combination of Yamamoto #40 and #39, to reduce weight, enhance compression, improve seal, and with Z-Fleece for extra insulation. The suit has #40 Yamamoto, 25% stretchier than #39, in the upper torso for improved ease of paddling. Featuring Yamamoto eco-limestone neoprene that only absorbs 2% water. No more heavy, water-logged wetsuits to surf in.

        I've been fortunate enough to have used a lot of wetsuits. Beginning with the O'neill beavertail through the stiff fullsuits of the late 20th century, up to the present time. Many suits have their gimmicks: quick dry, neck gators, tight wrist and ankle cuffs, but they're still the same ill-fitting, moderately flexible suit.

        Then a quantum leap occurred.

        Isurus created a surgical glove

        It's also exceptionally warm, with the flexibility in the shoulder and hips where it's needed.

        As the Orthopedic Surgeon for the ASP/WSL for the last 25 years, I've seen a multitude of injuries from tight, poor fitting suits. The cut and stitch pattern is superb to allow exceptional flexibility through the shoulders. This decreases the risk of impingement syndrome and rotator cuff damage. The zipper less entry and exit is also very flexible around the shoulder which also decreases the risk of rotator cuff or labral damage.

        I have also experienced myself the low back stiffness that occurs with a poorly fit wetsuit that allows low back chill. Even though the Shield is only a 2/2, the stitch and paneling is done to maximize fit with optimal warmth to the low back area.

        Spend a little bit more on this fabulous suit rather than in my office with your shoulder pain. Buying quality never goes out of style. I rarely give testimonials, but I believe in Isurus wetsuits.

        I don’t do surgery in garden gloves.

        Warmest 4/3 I’ve Ever Worn (surfing since 1969)

        "I live in Sonoma County where July water can be 49 degrees - fortunately not 2026 it’s 54. So I have always warn a 5/4/3 for 30 years. Your 4/3 hooded suit is as warm or warmer than ANY O’Neil, Rip Curl etc. I’ve ever worn and it’s LIGHTER & MORE FLEXIBLE than any of them! I call it “My Miracle Suit)!! I immediately ordered the 4. 3 without the hood for sunny days up here. I also have a 3. 3 Hooded Suit I’ve had since 2019 and it’s also warm enough to surf in up here and as water tight as when I purchased it 7 yrs ago.         "I need to start my review by saying that I'm still using my 6 year old Evade 4. 3 Hooded Chest Zip wetsuit and it's still going strong. I've never owned such a warm, flexible and long lasting wetsuit, which is why I bought a new one. I will use both of them all winter in the northeast where the water is already down to 46 degrees.         A suit made for us Giraffes

        "This was the second Isurus suit I've owned, and it's only been a few sessions with this one but I'm very stoked. As a tall lanky surfer, I've always had issues finding a suit with arms, legs, and a torso long enough that I don't feel like I'm wearing the slingshot thong from Borat, while fitting slim enough that I don't come out of the water looking like Violet from Willy Wonka (the classic one, with Gene Wilder. ) The LTS size is the perfect invention. With that said, the 2mil zip free I got a year and a half ago is still going strong and has only gotten more comfortable, more flexible, and more well fitting as the last year has gone by. I imagine I'll have the same results with this suit. Also just to add, any time I had a question I've emailed them and Josh responded pretty quickly without any of the runaround you get from a multi-million dollar "core" brand."
